A member asked:

My son was just diagnosed with severe strep throat high blood pressure and a white blood cell count of 27000 he is 27 i am worried what could it be?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

If he has: difficulty opening his mouth, or trismus, he might need emergency drainage of a peri tonsillar abscess. Get him to an ENT specialist. He needs to be on antibiotics and may be even steroids, even if he does not need surgery.
