I have been taking 10 mg of lexapro (escitalopram) for anxiety and it has helped me but i have gained 15 pds is there an alternative that i could take?

Other meds: Many of the SSRI class work very well, but can carry some minimal risk of weigh gain. Discuss the untoward side effects with your doctor and you could possibly try another agent, which would hopefully not cause the weight gain. Certainly be aware of your caloric/carb intake as well, and make sure you eat healthy and exercise, which by the way, has also been shown to improve anxiety. Good luck.

YES: please talk to your doctor, there are many SSRIs that have various side effects. it is basically a trial and error that you both have to agree on. studies suggest that Prozac (fluoxetine) may have the least weight gain as compared to other SSRIs, but potentially more side effects because it is an older med.
