Concurrent use of CYP 3A4 inhibitors, such as cimetidine or ketaconazole, can cause an increase in alprazolam plasma levels. Liver injury from the benzodiazepine class is rare, but because it goes through the liver as stated, esp with Hep C, it should be avoided or Dr. needs to use caution and monitor!

Depends: Depends on the dose of Xanax and the condition of your liver. There is not a problem taking Xanax if you have Hepatitis C as long as liver tests are ok, but I would limit to low doses. You definitely should not drink alcohol, and try to avoid Tylenol (acetaminophen). I hope you have stopped your IV drug use, this is dangerous in many ways. Good luck!
