Xanax (alprazolam) & Alcohol: The answer is both simple and complex. Alcohol has a direct toxic effect for the liver. Xanax (alprazolam) does not. But, xanax (alprazolam) is often thought of in medicine as the 'pill form' of alcohol. Xanax (alprazolam) is incredibly addicting. It increases its negative side effects if taken while drinking alcohol.
