Not necessarily: Blood test for HCG would help in establishing pregnancy and if there is no gestational sac in the uterus, it would suggest an ectopic pregnancy. Ultrasound examination, blood tests, and examination of the tissue by a pathologist may all be needed to confirrm a diagnosis.
