Throw away bottles: Getting toddlers to give up bottles can be so frustrating! It's good for both his teeth and development, though, so you're doing the right thing. Have you tried gradually switching by starting with a sippy that has a soft spout? Alternately, some kids do well going straight to an open cup. Finally, one trick is to throw or give away all bottles so no one is tempted. It's hard, but it works!

Water: If you only put water in the bottles, but put the tasty stuff in the sippy cups, he will eventually toss the bottles away from boredom. Be firm at never allowing anything else in the bottle. A month may go by while you fight it out but the kid will cave at some point.
