No and it is not : uncommon as scoliosis is a rotation or twisting of spine just as if you coiled a rope so there can be prominences of rib cage on one side & of scapula or shoulderblade on opposite side. The fact that shoulders & hips are level suggests that your curve is balanced. Only very large curves can affect breathing. By age 19, if curve measures less than 50 degrees, there is little risk of worsening.

Unlikely: If curvature of spine is extreme then could possibly affect the work of breathing and also make rib cage asymmetric. Most scoliosis does not cause breathlessness, and thus your doctor needs to fully explore other possible causes before blaming the curvature and chest asymmetry for your shortness of breath.
