A member asked:

What does it mean for an ectopic pregnancy to have non viable embryonic tissue? is there still a pregnancy or what?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Real Pregnancy: An ectopic pregnancy is a pregnancy outside the uterus. It is usually in the fallopian tube but can also be in other places. Ectopic pregnancies are real pregnancies but they won't survive outside the uterus. That is what nonviable means. Since the pregnancy can't survive, treatment is focused on preventing problems for mom. The ectopic pregnancy can be removed surgically or with medication.
