Do i need antibiotics to cure my ear infection?

Not always: Ear infections may resolve on their own, but it sure is more comfortable to be treated with antibiotics!

Not necessarily: Many ear infections begin as viral infections and can clear without antibiotics. If the ear infection lasts over 1 week or involves foul smelling drainage, it most likely has a bacterial/fungal component to it and may need further antibiotic or fungal treatment. Following up closely with your doctor is key to make sure you are treated appropriately.
