Could be from baby: The baby may be pressing on the ureters causing what is called hydronephrosis of pregnancy.

Get checked: You need to be checked to make sure it's not preterm labor. It could also be a UTI. The most common reason for lower abdominal pain is round ligament pain, which comes from stretching the round ligaments. They come off the top sides of the uterus and go down into the groin on each side.
