C/section risk: The OB cuts through the layers of the uterus during the C-section to reveal a balloon like baby container.The distance between the last layer of uterus and the balloon like lining is the width of a thick sheet of paper.The baby & container presses tightly against the wall. Occasionally the knife nicks baby at what ever point they are under the cutting edge. Shallow nicks heal quickly.
