Can sudden severe hypertension be related to an adrenal problem if no other risk factors present and otherwise healthy?

Yes: However, adrenal disease is the cause of hypertension in only 1-2% of all cases of hypertension.

Sudden HTN: Yes but rare. So have your Dr. do a test for pheochromocytoma as well as a detailed medial history and physical exam and labs to search for the cause. You may want to join our group of over 1,300 pts like you at Yahoo Groups: hyperaldosteronism.
