A member asked:

If a ganglion of the knee is not treated, would there be any after effects?

Usually benign: however, this can cause discomfort due to compression. Get an orthopedic opinion and scan

Ganglion cyst?: If this is what you speak of, you will just live with the presence of the cyst for the rest of your life. If it causes you pain or discomfort it will likely continue to do so without treatment. One study showed that 58% of ganglion cysts resolve on their own, so that could happen too. Otherwise, consider needle aspiration of the cyst or athroscopic removal if the pain is not tolerable.
