How do you deliver baby with spina bifida?

As usual: Delivery of a neonate with spina bifida may require some special attention by the obstetrician, but usually the delivery progresses as normal and the spina bifida is addressed after delivery.

Planning Delivery: Planning for spina bifida, includes the after care.Unless this is sb occulta, where skin covers the defect, uncovered elements require an upper level nursery for proper infection control & treatment.A fluid blockage in the brain is common, so surgery to close the defect & shunt the fluid are often required.Delivery at or transfer to, a center specializing in such care can improve outcome.
