A member asked:

Does the hepatitis a virus have to be ingested by mouth?

Yes: The hepatitis a virus infects humans via the fecal-oral route. The already-infected person sheds the virus in their feces and the un-infected person must allow something contaminated by the already-infected person's feces to enter their mouth for infection to occur.

Fecal-Oral: Transmitted fecal-oral route but there is a theoretically small risk of pareneteral transmission (blood).
