I have a gfr of 53. my kidney specialist says there's nothing to do or change it unless it drops. i also have high chlorestal. what can i really do?

Diet, fluids,,,: Likely your best course of action here is to modify your diet like more vegetables and less cakes, etc., and drink more fluids like water. A low to moderate exercise program as tolerated would also help. You can discuss with your doctor what'd be recommended. Best of luck.
