No: Unless the injury is very severe the more common cause would be subungual hematoma. That is blood under the nail plate and is very painful. Go to an urgent care center or emergency room. The doctor can use electro cautery to make holes in the nail plate and express the blood out giving immediate relief.

See a podiatrist : You definitely have blood under the nail. You should see a podiatrist to make sure there is not an underlying fracture or cut to the nail bed. They can determine if it needs to be drained or if the nail should be removed.
