Risk factors include obesity, poorly controlled diabetes and elevated triglyceride and blood fat levels. Treatment includes weight loss, diabetes control, avoiding toxins such as alcohol, some medications. Simvastatin is used to control cholesterol and is generally safe. You will need to have some blood work checked.
