A mass could be due to swollen or hardened normal contents, growth of new tissue (such as a cancer), or the accumulation of fluid in the scrotum. A doctor can initially use non-invasive testing such as ultrasound to help evaluate the cause.

Inguinal hernia or..: you could have a growth or even testicular cancer. At your age the most common type of cancer to get would be testicle cancer... An inguinal hernia that is in the scrotum would be large and would need to be repaired soon. You could have a hydrocele which could be watched for a while. Getting a good exam by a doctor can usually get an you an answer.. You may need an ultrasound to look at it.
