Depends: 1. Pain after iron infusion is not normal and if the pain persists, you should contact your doctor. 2. !500 mg. Normal body contains 4-5 gms of iron, about 2.5 in blood as hemoglobin and about 2.0 in storage. If you were anemic due to iron deficiency, you had essentially no iron in storage and 1.5 gm infusion would barely bring you to normal baseline. You need the address the cause of iron loss.
