Yes: It's perfectly effective as a birth control due to the estrogen. The main difference is that the other hormone is typically a Progesterone in other combination pills. The second hormone in Estelle-35ED is an anti-androgen hormone called cyproterone acetate which decreases the level of androgens you are exposed to/able to respond to and thereby decreasing oily skin and acne.
