6 months. : After 6 months of treatment with lisinopril, researchers found both microscopic and laboratory evidence of regression of excess collagen, the structural material that accumulates in the heart as a result of hypertension or a myocardial infarction and eventually limits the heart's ability to pump properly. Not all blood pressure meds cause this cardioreparation, check with PCP.
