Yes: Sleep as a concept is more pertinent to outside the womb phenomenon. A fetus generally is believed to be in a state of rest in the 1st trimester, The eyes are generally shut evidenced by fetoscopy and 3d Ultarsounds. So one could say they are generally asleep.
