Degenerative neck: If you are only 29 years old and have problems with your neck already, I would try to avoid surgery if you can. There are too many levels of involvement in your neck. Try acupuncture, gentle physical therapy to learn to support your neck better. Give it at least 2 months of weekly treatment of acupuncture to see if it would help the numbness. If it doesn't, then consider surgery.
