Sleep Apnea: Not sure what the number should be, but surgery results are disappointing in my experience. It is worth any amount of trouble and persistence to get comfortable with CPAP (Continuous positive airway pressure) for relief of this condition. It changes people's whole lives for the better if they are willing to go through the adjustment.

Severe sleep apnea: The AHI number means that you had 75 events an hour in which you either stopped breathing or were breathing very shallowly. Over 30 events an hour implies severe sleep apnea. Before having elective surgery, you should initiate treatment of your sleep apnea, allowing your body to adjust to treatment. Severe sleep apnea increases your risks significantly.
