Can't say: Bipolar disorder is a very tough problem. You are to be commended for getting treated and staying with the plan you and your dr have laid out.The disorder never goes away completely and requires a close relationship with your provider for successful management of this very difficult illness.

Generally ongoing: At this point, mood stabilizers for bipolar disorder are needed on an ongoing basis. However there is promise from certain kinds of psychotherapy, especially mindfulness-based approaches. Also there is some evidence that omega 3 fatty acids can help stabilize mood. Additionally regulating stress is important.
