Maybe not: Hemp seeds are very high in protein, more than 10 grams of protein for every 3 tablespoons. Kidney failure patients usually follow protein restricted diets. Too many hemp seeds can easily mean too much protein for the failed kidneys to handle. Talk with your nutritionist about your protein needs.

Likely to be OK: Plant proteins such as hemp spare kidney function in rats with a genetic predisposition to renal disease. Hemp protein contains significant amounts of omega-3 and omega-6 essential fatty acids along with all of the essential amino acids. It is high in arginine which supports kidney function. However, there are potential side effects to be aware of so always check with your doctor before adding this or anything new to your diet.
