How devastating is contracting pink eye after lasik?

Unpleasant: Having pink eye is not fun but will not be harmful to the effects of LASIK surgery. It can be treated by the LASIK surgeon i fit occurred within 3-6 weeks after the LASIK and if later than that by your regular opthalmologist.

Usually manageable: Pink eye, also known as conjunctivitis, is very rare after LASIK. The bacterial type is prevented by the strong antibiotics used, usually 4th generation fluoroquinolones. The viral type is less dangerous. If a patient has had LASIK more than a month prior to pink eye, she is unlikely to have problems. Even in the short term, pink eye can be managed with abx, iodine solution, and sometimes steroids
