The Zoster virus: typically breaks out after some immune depression event. This event can be triggered by any viral or bacterial or parasitic infection. In HIV case, it can overwhelm the immune system enough that it triggers a secondary outbreak, the varicella or herpes zoster. Go get yourself tested for HIV immunity. Yes: Yes...... However the exposure too is a stressor so shingles is provoked by a stressful event.
