Cellulitis: If your swelling is increasing or unchanged after 3-4 days on antibiotics then you may need a stronger or different type of antibiotic to treat the bacteria. Also depending on the degree and location of the swelling, you may need more intervention than just local antibiotics. You should call your doctor and describe the symptoms.

2-3 days: Effective antibiotic coverage should see some improvement in 2-3 days. Two things-was the cut sutured close; if so, how many hours after the injury was it sutured. Second, it's PROBABLY a Staph infection, but maybe it's MRSA, and your current antibiotic does not have MRSA coverage. You should back to your doctor.
