See your GYN : You need to see your GYN to discuss options. NCPs tend to make the periods lighter and less painful. You can take them continuously so that you don't have periods but every 3 months or at all, although the linger you go, the more likely you may have irregular breakthrough bleeding. Other options include Depo Provera (medroxyprogesterone) or the IUD, which tend to lessen or eliminate your periods.

Both have Progesterone that in addition to preventing pregnancy, also minimize growth of the inner uterine lining which becomes your menstrual period.
