Misinformed?: Infection of the epididymitis has no effect on the testicles making fresh sperm and thus does not lead to birth defects in future offspring.

No: However chronic epididymitis, if bilateral, might well result in obstructed sperm ducts & thus lack or absence of sperm in your semen & thus inability to conceive.
