Scalp contusion: Head trauma in pediatrics needs to be supervised by an adult for about 24 hours. constant unconsolable cry, vomiting, excessive sleepiness, abnormal behavior are some of the concerning symptoms and pt should be seen immediately. Hope he was wearing a helmet, please put ice on the bump and in case of doubt must be seen by the MD in Urgent care. Not all head injuries require head CT but MD can tell.

Yes: To be in the safe side. Likely nothing, but wise to have doc take a look at him. Please get him a helmet too along with elbow and knee guards and make him wear them. Put ice on his "red spot" few times a day for 5-15 minutes at a time.
