A member asked:

My last period shows im 9weeks pregnant. i have been having rely swollen ankles and feet! i do not eat much salt what could be causing this so early?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Ankle swelling: Hormonal changes may cause water retention unless there are other symptoms besides the swelling such as redness/inflamed taut skin, etc, which would be suggestive of deep venous thrombosis. Keep your feet elevated, continue on low salt diet. Make sure your blood pressure is normal. After all, speak with your OB doc. He may have some bright ideas, too.
