Abnormal: You are describing palpitations in which the heart is beating abnormally fast - this may be an intermittent, abnormal rhythm disturbance (called "PAT" or "SVT"). You need to ask your doctor to order a heart monitoring test for you. Depending on how often you have these symptoms, you will need 24 or 48 hour recording or even one up to 30 days. Once diagnosed, it can be treated.
