I have had my eyes checked & being sent to eye neurologist but can someone explain why i occasionally get fireflies in my vision for 20 seconds+?

Short answer: Migraine headaches....but there are other things which should be checked out.....sounds like you're going to see a neuro-ophthalmologist. I advise that you keep a bit of a diary of these "fireflies"...when they happen, how long, and what else may be going on either before, during, or after the event....this may help the doctor you will see make more sense out of things.....
