Can you tell me if mesothelioma causes a particular type of cancer?

Thoracic Surgery 42 years experience
Yes: Mesothelioma is a particular type of cancer, occurring in the chest cavity, beginning in the lining of the chest. The most linked cause has been asbestos, which can also cause lung cancer. This can take decades to happen, but occurs so slowly that it is usually found once it becomes symptomatic, making it unlikely to be cured.
