A member asked:

What is the typical recovery time for a partial pattella tear?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Bones can't tear...: The patella is a bone and therefore cannot tear. However, if you meant the patellar tendon, this can be injured and result in "jumpers knee" which is the slang term for patellar tendinitis. Rest, ice massage, and hamstring stretches are recommended and it will take about three months to heal. No jumping or forceful extension allowed during that period of time.
