Often: This is rituximab, a B cell agent most often used to treat RA or lymphoma. It has value in other diseases including vasculitis and lupus. Without knowing the reasons the drug was used other than a diagnosis of lupus, it is impossible to be specific. Interestingly, another B cell agent, Benlysta (belimumab) is more often used in lupus than Mabthera. You need to direct your question to the doctor treating you.
