See below: The difference between the nursing home and residential care is based on the level of functioning. In the residential setting, this person able to feed, to toilet, to transfer, to ambulate, to void and to defecate independently. Also good behavioral control is important. If the person develops major changes in functional and behavioral status, the nursing home placement is the best way to go.
