HSV: Assume you are having antibody tests. HSV antibody tests are ordered primarily when someone is being screened for a previous exposure to HSV. Acute and convalescent HSV antibody testing may be ordered when a current infection is suspected, although the best way to show this is through viral cultures or DNA testing of specimens from lesions. When you get the results they should show normal values.
