Bronchiectasis: Antibiotics are prescribed when an acute infection of the bronchiectatic area occurs. When there is chronic or repeated infections, surgical removal of the bronchiectatic tissue is performed. A thoracic surgeon is best qualified to evaluate and treat the patient.
