Determine the cause: Depending on the cause, the treatment can be given. A majority of chronic coughs can be associated with 1.Asthma 2.Post nasal drip 3. Acid reflux. For more acute conditions such as what you describe, should be explored in greater detail with a physician who will also perform a physician exam.
