A member asked:

My 8 yr old daughter has a blood potassium level of 5.8mmol/l.what does this mean.is it caused by dehydration?

A doctor has provided 1 answer
Dr. Ashu Syal answered

No: Potassium level of 5.8 only indicates that blood collected was hemolyzed. Dehydration can cause acidosis which can cause high K ( potassium) levels too
