Excess Ritalin (methylphenidate) use: Ritalin, (methylphenidate) a stimulant medication, is not commonly used "excessively" by young children, as their doses are usually given by the parent. Generally, excessive use can result in anything from overdose, to addiction, hypertension, cardiomyopathy, irritability, anxiety, poor appetite, psychosis & insomnia, to name a few. Talk with your prescribing doc about the risks/benefits & side effects in ur case.
