No: If your dentist didn't think you needed an antibiotic, then if no subsequent infection occures, forget about it. We are trying to use antibiotics less often than we used to because of the amount of antibiotic resistant bacteria showing up.

Not recommended: Antibiotics are NOT given as a routine procedure after oral surgery or tooth extraction. The over use of antibiotics leading to the development of resistant bacteria is well documented and in specific situations, antibiotics are given to help prevent infection or treat an existing infection.
