Could a spot in your lung mean you have lung cancer? what is the possibility it can be something else?

Likely benign: The overwhelming number of spots seen in the lung with CXR or CT scan are benign, to the tune of 95%. Things that will make your doctor more concerned are size (larger than 1cm), growth, multiple spots, smoking history, or previous cancer. The usual approach for seeing a spot is to set up a repeat study within 3 months.
