A member asked:

Could you tell me if high esr is an indication of cancerous growth?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: The sedimentation rate is a refelection of generalized inflammatory condition. This of course is a blood test which is essentially never used in following patients with cancer. Rather tumor markers are employed, those products produced by the cancer which are shed into and measured in the blood sample taken.
