Check with surgeon: There are many issues that can arise with a colostomy including leakage, prolapse, herniation, partial or complete obstruction and other problems. You should always check with your surgeon who performed the colostomy first. They may wish to treat or handle the problem. You may sometimes be referred to an enterostomal therapist for certain problems.
