A member asked:

Do you have to cut your breast off to get rid of breast cancer? what do i do?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

It depends: If the cancer is large relative to the size of your breast, it may require a mastectomy instead of a lumpectomy. Depending on the type of breast cancer, if you have a large tumor and it is fast-growing, you may be a good candidate for IV or oral therapy prior to surgery to shrink down the tumor. You would need to see a Surgical or Medical Oncologist to see if this is an option for you.
